JOB DESCRIPTION: DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Development & Communications Coordinator is a full-time position with benefits reporting to the Associate Director. Among other responsibilities, the Development & Communications Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the organization’s foundation grants and media strategy. We are a small, mission-driven nonprofit. The successful candidate will need to wear many hats, as described below.

 

Job Responsibilities

Fund Development

  • Research and identify institutional funders with interests that align with TT
  • Attend information sessions and set up foundation meetings in partnership with our Executive and Associate Directors
  • Prepare and submit LOIs, grant applications, and grant reports
  • Create and distribute fundraising material and donor appeals through mail, email, and social media
  • Maintain grants calendar and track fundraising activity, with assistance from Office Manager

Communications

  • Maintain media contact and media database, with assistance from Office Manager
  • Write and distribute press releases, announcements, email blasts, and online actions in coordination with program staff and broader coalition
  • Manage TT social media and posts with help from TT volunteers
  • Develop communications strategy and calendar key press actions in coordination with staff and broader coalition
  • Develop core messaging materials and talking points for campaigns, actions & events

General

  • Create promotional material to support development and communications work
  • Develop and report on key metrics to determine effectiveness of strategies
  • Participate in staff meetings and work closely with program & admin staff
  • Supervise volunteers/interns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in development (including grant writing) and/or communications (including media and social media)
  • Demonstrated ability to raise funds from institutional donors
  • Knowledge of and relationships with potential funders to hit the ground running
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to social, economic and/or racial justice; tenant rights and/or housing justice knowledge preferred
  • Tech savvy and computer proficient, including Word, Excel, social media, and Salesforce
  • Team player who takes initiative; must be able to work independently and collaboratively

 

Salary, Benefits and Timing

This is a full-time position to start as soon as possible. Medical, dental, paid vacation. Salary DOE.
