Housing conditions/habitability

We have been living at this rental for over 2 years and never late on payment we were faced with a terrible matter in the first month which was bedbugs and had to go the er for information as we did not know what was happening but we still paid our rent and stuck it out then when we started seeing all the unhealthy issues and he was asked to correct it he stated it would not happen unless he raised the rent. We exercised our rights and he did not comply with the Code Enforcement but served us a rent increase.

In March of 2009 I rented an apartment at VintageWood in Fresno, California. I paid my monthly rent. I then graduated from the local University and began applying for work. I found two places of employment…on for three weeks and the other a distance from my apartment. I began to work at the second job and was gone from the apartment for 5 days at a time. My roommate was a young adult who was of age. He had friends who came to visit when I was out of town. I visited on my days off.

in october 2002, 6mos after meeting my boyfriend his parents asked us if we wanted to move into their house that they were moving out of since they were retiring. we were in an apartment at the time and agreed to move in. HUGE MISTAKE ON MY PART. ever since i have had problems with him and his family especially on ocasions when law enforcement was involved. being as it was his/his parents house, i was always the one who had 5 minutes to pack a bag and leave. on one occasion i had my own place for almost 2 years he would cause some drama and i was asked to leave.

I have been living at my apartment building for about 3 years. After 1 year, without notice, major renovations began. For the next 2 years, I have had to deal with noise, debris, lack of water, workers coming into my apartment every week, and recently was relocated to a different unit. The renovation has severely impacted my life. After several letters to the management describing the problems I have experienced and requesting some form of compensation, such as a decrease in rent, I was given a $300 credit.

San Francisco public housing is not including Earned Income Disregard when they calculate the rents of residents who have a job, or training program. According to the law passed by Congress in 1999, every public housing resident over 18 yrs old is eligible for Earned Income Disregard, if they qualify. Therfore PHA residents in all cities and states, including San Francisco can have their income disregarded for up to one year at 100% of the income. This means your rent stays at the lower amount for 1 year, so PHA residents can save and become self sufficient.
