Our property is about 40 units. It is subsidized by HUD. Since 7 years ago, Section 8 has been frozen and there is a 6 to 10 year waiting period for renters help. I don't want to move from my apt, it is where my mother died and where all of my friends are and I am disabled. I make $890 a month in disability and SSI and my rent is $850. I have had some help and I have maxed out my credit cards and soon my good credit. I have written to Senator Feinstein and Boxer and only get prewritten genreal letters, so I know that mine are not being read. In Encinitas CA there are only 158 vouchers. If someone dies or leaves the area then there is an opening. I have only been on for 4+ years and am destperate as many others are. Please do not do away with the renters rebate and please fund Section 8 in Encinitas CA as well as other areas. I am pleading for those of us that will be on the streets and will not survive.
