Private Landlord -- No Rent Control

I have been renting a room in a 6 bedroom unit in El Cerrito. It has been a month to month basis, and I have made my rent every month. I have been mostly quiet and to my self. I lately have been staying with my Girlfriend who lives in Oakland 4 nights a week, meaning I am at my room 3 nights a week. I got an eviction notification via facebook chat from my land lord telling me I was to leave the premises by Dec 2nd. Reasons stated is that my chinchilla smells at times, I am not home, and I don't "pitch in". Yes, I don't clean the dishes the other tennants leave in the sink while I am gone, and my chinchilla can be a bit strong, but not so strong that someone "cannot go pee without getting sick" (my landlord wrote a note about this on the day she sent me the 30 day via PM) I leave early for work, and get home late at night, and when I get home all I want to do is make dinner, clean up after myself, relax in my room, and go to bed. This for some reason upset my land lord and she is kicking me out. I looked for any just cause provisions in El Cerrito and found to my chagrin not one. I am trying to find a new place, but all the places I can find are around $1000 a month, and have a minimum income of 3x the rent income requirement (something I really wish groups like this would petition to make illegal). I will be homeless by Jan 2 (as the 30 day notice is incorrect since I have been living at the place since November 2012, or one full year. The Just cause provision should be a federal law and NOT a state to state, because I am literally being kicked out because I am too quiet and neat, not around enough, drama free, and my chinchilla smells like a chinchilla. Am I the only one finding something wrong in this?
