Private Landlord -- No Rent Control

Where do I start I rent an apartment in a converted house in Fullerton Ca. The multi tenant bldg suit 5 different families/tenants their is another single family residence next door all are considered affordable housing and owned by the same landlord. On August 31st 09 the owner/landlord served all tenants 60 day notice termination of tenancy. He wrote us all a letter telling us he sold the properties to our next door neighbors WWW.FIES.com And went on to say that FIES cannot keep our affordable housing as affordable market rentals because they are a non-profit organization with 501 c3 status. And the mission of FIES is transitional living with support services, and they know now that maintaining the properties as market rentals, even for an interim period, are a non-related business function and do not fit the mission of the agency as defined. This means it is not a tax-exempt purpose in the eyes of the IRS. Look at their mission on their website, Look at all the subsidies they receive and ask yourself how this organization can excuse themselves for taking away the affordable housing sitting on their hands, turning away long enough to have the current landlord deliver a vacant property with a 60 day notice and not having the mission to administer relocation for the displacement of their neighbors. Some are becoming homeless for this abrupt acquisition. Does this sound right Their has been some local media coverage about this and coverage about over a million in federal funding in the last month for their mission I have more if you think you can help this mission that has fallen from its statement. And also I have just learned he has donated a substatial portion of the land to this non-profit thank you.
