I am permanently disabled and live on $840 mo. Social Security benefits. I was homeless for 9 months last year because of my credit after a divorce and not having a security deposit. I cannot live in Grass Valley, which is my home, because of the extremely exclusionary housing there. Their waiting lists are long for apartments, and their rents are very high; also, they are very picky about credit. Now I live in a place I don't want to be, and am very rent burdened. I don't have enough money for food and necessities. The waiting list for Section 8 is very long. I have no hope of improving my situation or of living where I want to.
