For the last 3 years, every 3-4 weeks I would come down with cold or flu systems. I was admitted to the West L. A. Veterans Hospital three times with lung infections and had to have emergency breathing treatments 5 times in the 3 years that I lived at this apartment. The V.A. could not find out what was causing my problems. The lady that lived in my apartment before me, would get mail from time to time and I would call her to come pick up her mail. One day she came by to pick up her mail and she walked into my kitchen and look at the ceiling and told me to get ready because it was about to fall down again! I was shocked and asked her what she was talking about? She pointed up to the ceiling and said, see those cracks in it? She said the ceiling was about to fall down again like it did on her and her daughter. I was shocked, as the cracks got larger and started leaking water down over my kitchen. I call the owner and told her about this condition of the leaking water and she had the manager come by and patch it up and paint over it. A week or so later it started to leak again and I called the owner again to tell her about. The manager came by again and painted over it again, this happened two more times in a matter of a few weeks, each time the manager would paint over it. One day one of my friends came by and look at it and said you have mold. I was shocked again, he told me that mold would kill you and to go on line and look it up on the internet, which I did and found that some of the problems that I was having was the same problems that mold caused! I called the owner and told her that there was mold in my apartment and she didn't want to admit, all she would say is that there was no leaded paint in my apartment. I called Inglewood City Code Enforcement about the mold and filed a complaint. they came out and saw the water marks in my kitchen and said they could not do anything because the did not see the water leaking or making water marks, I called them out a few times and they did nothing about it! I have copies of the complaints that I filed with them. I have photos of the mold and a videos of the water leaking down in my kitchen. I then call the California Department of Health and they came out and saw the water damage and water marks and did nothing also, I showed them the video of the water leaking down and the photos and they said that they had to see it leaking themselves and said that they did not have the equipment to test for mold! The Inglewood City Code Enforcement people said the same thing, that they did not have the equipment to test for mold. I was still getting sick so I went and hired a mold company for $700.00 to come in and test for mold and it tested positive for mold. I hired a lawyer but he said that he might not take the case because the owner's insurance might not cover mold. What can or what should I do? My lawyer said to call him back at the end of this month to see if he will take my case. I have moved out of the apartment because I was still getting sick, I put all of my belonging in storage and I'm living in motels right now until I can save enough money to get another apartment. I have photos and videos but they are in my storage right now. my ex-neighbors said that owners had a large truck with the workers dressed up like spacemen repairing the apartment that I lived in for three years, the VA Hospital also said I was exposed to mold. There are children in this apartment and they are getting sick also. If you can't help me please help them.
