I was the on-site manager. I was fired for fixing the apartments to gov code . I was doing my job. Owners were not in compliance with housing standards . Now they have sent people to break my windows they have been harassing me for months now. I have also been served with a three day notice.
The LA Tenants Union is a diverse, tenant-led movement fighting for the human right to housing for all.
To mobilize tenants in a city as diverse and expansive as Los Angeles, the LA Tenants Union is establishing local chapters. Locals organize around neighborhood issues and help link neighborhood struggles to the larger movement for housing justice.

With housing as a hot topic in Santa Cruz, Saturday’s forum on housing education by the Santa Cruz Tenant Organizing Committee drew a handful of invested renters.
Taking place in the Service Employees International Union Hall on Mission Street, the forum focused on tenant rights. The group was founded a few months earlier by UC Santa Cruz students, though that is the extent of the group’s affiliation with the university. With affordable housing becoming harder to find in the city and county, part of the ire fell onto UCSC students, many of whom live in the area.
The 4 units in our building received a 40% and 65% increase within a 60 day period directly after the sale of our building in June of this year. Bailey Property Management offered us $2900.00 plus our security deposit back to leave the apartment 'immediately'. We could not accept their offer because we had no place to go to and we had no way of leaving in such short notice. They responded by serving me with a 3 day notice to quit on the @nd of September, only 24 hours after Sept. 1.
After attempted to evict us the first time, the judge ruled in our favor for them having breached contract.due to uninhabitability, severe t roach infestation and judge lowered our rent.onwner retaliated and on filed a second eviction,no merit,no privity,frivolous.we gave $6500 in court. On 3/17/2015.They files a three day notice unbeknownst to us for $800.we were never served.default judgment by horrible commissioner in long beach.
My issue is more general and a common frustration among people like myself, who make too much money to qualify for "affordable housing" but not enough to afford the rising rents.
