Hello , My husband and I are in need of some advice or legal services regarding the place we rented . We rented an apartment that is a converted garage we were charged 1st ,last & security with $100 of it nonrefundable we also pay 1/2 of utilities & trash the owners agent who lives in the house pays the other 1/2 . Well we moved in to the apartment and lived in it about 1 month when the city came and said the apartment was an illegal conversion, built without permits which we were not aware of and apparently it was not legal for the owner to rent it out .

I lived in an apartment for over 10 years. Now that I have moved the apartmant complex has sent me a bill for damages. Since I lived there for over 10 years do I have to pay for damages that are over the cost of my security deposit?

i moved in 8/1/13 and signed a lease that said it was valid from 8/1/13 - 7/31/13. i was not allowed to have a dog but my daughter brought one home and we had it for about a week and then got rid of it. it was a three bedroom home and I was the only one listed on the lease but I let my daughter 19 and son 20 live with me without notifying the landlord. the landlord was very angry and said i breeched the contract. i was late by $150 of a $1000 rent for 1/14 so the landlord started yelling at me threatening to call his attorney.

My husband, daughter and myself had a fixed lease dated 1/12/12 to rent a section of the home that was illegaly made into a duplex and ended up with a gas leak that wasnt even fixrd. On 6/28/13 the property sold just shy of being auctioned we never met new owner still to this day. Sept. 2013 i told old landlord i wont pay him to comtact new owner....never did, in Dec 2013 old landlord shows up with a man claiming to be brother of new owner no papers to prove it. They asked or told just us not other tenants to move out by Jan 2, 2014 on Dec 30, 13.

the rental I was in with rental agreement with old landlord dated 1/12/12, 6/28/13 property sold, 9/13 I tell old landlord I will not pay him to contact new owner so I can pay her.

I was forced to move to live with my mother in Louisiana due to wrongful eviction. I was given 3 hours notice to vacate with no reason given from landlord. He didn't want a person like me on property. A friend said it was because I used his washing machine using tide, I was then told I would not receive my 3 months of rent he required to move into apartment. He told her he immediately raised the rent and would need to have me buy a new washing machine.
I am on disability and was devastated with nowhere to go.

Landlord constant harrassment and entry into the property to inspect our personal belongings, and when I wrote a formal letter to the landlord asking to stop the harassment the landlord retaliated by serving a termination of lease. Landlord entered the condo without any authorization to show to prospective tenants without any respect to our privacy. Landlord attempted to assault me when I came to turn in the keys to the property in front of the people that were cleaning the rental unit. Landlord tried to keep my security deposit of $2,000.00, but I applied my deposit as my last month rent.

I moved into the property and gave them a list of things to be repaired from he walk though and was charged for some of the things that were already broken when I moved into he property and some of them are still broke and I was charged to have them repaired. I took pictures of some of the items I was charged for. The new tenant let me in to look at them.
