It is very simply. I have lived in this house for just over three years, and have never once been late on my rent, and always paid the full $900.00 a month. I have not damaged the house in any way. I have let the back yard go, because I became ill and could not afford to hire anyone to keep it up. My landlady lives right next door and spys on everything I do in the yard. My ex-wife visits here part of the time,to help take care of our Grandchildren and she is 100% disabled through the social security, so she cannot do very much in the line of yardwork.

I moved in the unit in Sept. of 2006 and had to transfer my unit because of habitability issues. The bathroom plumbing was connected to the laundry room and the wash water was backing up in my bathtub. I had to take my son out of the bathtub on 3 seperate occasions and was moved after 2mos of complaining. Initially there was no charge for sewage, water, or trash. Two months into the initial lease, they wanted to implement this charge. I told them they had to give a 30 or 60 day notice before they could charge me. They did, and the charge was $23.00 per month, per unit.

RG09481107 Alameda County Superior Court Judge August 25, 2010, takes matter off calendar; Property Asset Management, Inc vs Brown. Attorney David Endres got the property from Pite and Duncan Trust Account where the Original Trustor from 2001 Lisa Swain-Morris employed at Charles Swabb had purchased the building in HUD Loan; it was found later that lead based paint current today was on the building and in the yard too. There was a lease signed with Brian Coleman and children and Ami Brown.

I moved to Santa Monica in 1974 and have been renting my home ever since. In those 36 years I have lived in 16 different rentals: 10 apartments & 6 houses from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara to Daly City and finally Pacifica, CA.

This is a senior duplex community, with average time in units about 15 years. Last year, the owner handed over mgmt to a company. They immediately raised the rent from $390 to $430 for small 1 bdrm units. These are occupied by senior ladies on fixed incomes. Last Aug the mgmt co again raised the rent, this time from $430 to $695. This is impossible for these ladies to pay, and so far the increase has forced two of them from their homes. This is legal, but very wrong! It's motivated by greed! What can we do?
