Legislative victories/defeats

I am living ina low income housing (rental) apartment. My rent is $850 and I am on the waiting list for Section 8 Voucher program which has not been funded for about 10 years. I have been waiting for 6 years and nothing yet. A person has to either die or leave the County. We ar desperate here. I live in a small community next to Encinitas, so I am included in the Encinitas housing. This Section 8 is under Hud, but please do not send me ther, because I have received the same canned message over and over again.
Please help us!! I am desperate enough to be homeless shortly.

I moved to Santa Monica in 1974 and have been renting my home ever since. In those 36 years I have lived in 16 different rentals: 10 apartments & 6 houses from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara to Daly City and finally Pacifica, CA.

There is another matter we are addressing in Easter Kern; the lack of public Transportation for hundreds of families stranded in the Mojave Desert Region, who can no longer afford the costs of private vehicle fees and insurance.

We propose a city to city solution between Ridgecrest and Victorville; effectively linking several towns and cities in two counties; San Bernardino and Kern counties.

We have lived in the same rental home for the last 3 years. We have always paid our rent and to the best of out knowledge everything was fine, until there was a trustee sale notice put up on the outside of our house. I called the landlord and he assured me that he was trying to rewrite the loan on the home and he was only behind a couple of payments. This turned out to be untrue. He said he had spoken to a lawyer that was more then happy to take his money and then produce no results.

Despite getting 91% opposition to conversion, we are still embroiled in conflict with owner and judge of the superior court.

I do not think it is fair that we do not get our RENT REBATE, for 2 year straight. A lots of us depends on it to make end meet. THANK YOU.
