With only cursory notice three weeks ago, landlord has begun major remodeling of the entire fourplex containing our apartment. There are now no exterior walls or roof covering. There is no security or privacy. Beautiful deck was removed and all plants in garden have been cut down. There is constant hammering, sawing, and dust. Apartment is freezing cold at night. Water is periodically turned off. Garage is blocked. No rental adjustment was offered. I do not know what to do.
Where do I start I rent an apartment in a converted house in Fullerton Ca. The multi tenant bldg suit 5 different families/tenants their is another single family residence next door all are considered affordable housing and owned by the same landlord. On August 31st 09 the owner/landlord served all tenants 60 day notice termination of tenancy.
Despite getting 91% opposition to conversion, we are still embroiled in conflict with owner and judge of the superior court.
I'll try to make my story short. My Dad died on 2/15/09. I was taking care of/living with him along with my minor children. after my father died I was told that I had to be out within 24 hours and that the locks were going to be changed. Now my kids are stressed. I have to separate them and move to another county. I was never served with ANY papers. There are more details. Does anyone know if and or how I can get some legal help?? They showed up to change my locks on the same day I burried my Dad.
