I have been living here for 23 years. the new landlord is upset cause the roof fell and section 8 told him he needed to fix and stop payment for one year so now he gets upset with me and wants me to move gave illegal eviction notice yet accepted my money for rent> does not want me to tell section 8 nor the court? basically if I do not ask for things to be fixed then I can stay? it's a form of Bullying the tenant. what can I do to protect myself against this ? in 23 yrs, I have tolerated rats, fallen ceilings, rugs since 1970 and now this. I am a student and disabled. low income

After the new landlord bought our building over a year ago they had someone from corporate look us in the eye and promise not to raise rent. This year they raised all tenants rent 9-10% with no negotiation or consideration for good tenants who were here many years before they took over. After I learned of this I let them know I was going to form a tenant association within the building to give the tenants a stronger voice against the new landlord.

I was a tenant in foreclosed house that had habitability issues. The new owners (investors) came in and agreed to fix everything within a reasonable fair amount of time. They did however agree to fix the plumbing issues right away. I signed a lease with them that included they were going to fix the plumbing issues. I gave them rent and waited 45 days of promise after promise. No working kitchen sink made the house uninhabitable. I found the legal grounds to withhold rent and notified the new owner that I was exercising my rights under civil codes.

My rent was raised $350 to an amount that is over 52% of my monthly income - higher than I am able to pay and still meet my other necessary expenses.

I am a senior and a disabled Veteran. I rely on SSDI as my sole income, and depend on HUD Section 8 for housing.

I believe I am a victim of discrimination because of my source of income and socioeconomic status. It is no secret that property owners want to "get rid of" Section 8 tenants for any number of reasons, many of which are based on prejudice and class discrimination.

My 96year old landlord died and her niece from So. California inherited the building and began the first of evictions within days of becoming the new owner. Two months later she approached another tenant with a buyout, which the tenant declined and this was followed 12 wks later by an Ellis Act Eviction notice to all. I have lived here for 30 years, raised my son here who also lives with me, and took care of the new owner's aunt for the last 5 years of her life.

we have been living in a rodent and bad plumbing, electrical wiring that flashes on and off....kids geting a shock evertime they put something in socket....for 8 well my boyfriend was living there with my kids for 8 and then i moved in 2010. but the owner owns 16 units that are diviede by a wall so it seems like only 8 units on one street and 8 on the other street. well my man has always lived and paid his rent ontime.

The new landlord brought the house then requested that we send them a rental agreement then we emailed it then they said they did not received it . After that a week 2 weeks passed and we began to move our furniture out then about a week later we got a 90. Day notice 4 days days later the realtor company showed up at door with sheriff we where forced to get out immediately and not take anything , one officer yelled out its not anymore gov't then my sister sat in jail on trespassing on closed land. When I spoke to the dept. I was told a variety of things..
