Tenants Together, an advocacy group based in San Francisco, is launching a statewide hotline, 415-495-8012, to provide information to tenants whose landlords are in any stage of the foreclosure process.

Under a new law that took effect in July, California tenants are entitled to a 60-day notice to vacate in foreclosure situations. However, many tenants are unaware of their rights, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Hotline volunteers can help renters find out if their landlord is being foreclosed, keep utilities on and get repairs done during foreclosure, recover security deposits and report illegal conduct.
