This is a senior duplex community, with average time in units about 15 years. Last year, the owner handed over mgmt to a company. They immediately raised the rent from $390 to $430 for small 1 bdrm units. These are occupied by senior ladies on fixed incomes. Last Aug the mgmt co again raised the rent, this time from $430 to $695. This is impossible for these ladies to pay, and so far the increase has forced two of them from their homes. This is legal, but very wrong! It's motivated by greed! What can we do?
