Legal Access Alameda

Legal Access provides free legal services to low-income people in Alameda County through monthly legal clinics in a range of areas of law.

Legal Access offers several programs:

1) Community Legal Assistance Saturday Program (CLASP)

  • First Saturday of the month, client intake from 10:30 a.m. - noon.
  • Alameda County Law Library, 125 12th Street, Oakland.
  • No appointment required, open to anyone seeking brief advice or referral in a legal matter.
  • 15 minute consultation with an attorney in a wide spectrum of areas of law, including family, immigration, housing, employment, consumer, bankruptcy, personal injury, trusts & estates, real estate and more.
  • Interpreters available in some languages

2) Lawyers in the Library

  • Volunteers provide free consultation and referrals at public libraries on a rotating basis throughout the month. 

3) Lawyer Referral Service

  • Provide legal advice and consultation to tenants regarding a number of inquires and issues including:
    • Support tenants in understanding generally their rights.
    • Tenants are having a rent increase dispute with the landlord. 
    • Tenants are having a dispute regarding provisions in the lease and want to discuss these lease provisions.
    • Habitability issues such as mold, poor lighting, poor security.
    • Tenants being harassed or discriminated against by their landlords. 
    • Security deposit issues.
