I was picketing outside of senior apts. Now manager have lied an said that I go around assulting tenants and employees to not only get me out of here but also to get me to lose my SECTION 8. I will be out in the streets with my dogs because no one is going to rent to me with what they have put on paper. I have no money for a lawyer.

I've resided in my 2 fl, 2brm apt.(in my unit)for 19 years ! 3rd/latest landlord of 1.5 years,30 yrs my junior is Ellising me. I do qualify for and already have in escrow the highest relocation fee.I have about 9 more months until I have to vacate. BUT, I don't want the money.I want to stay in my home. This is undoubtedly THE worst thing to ever happen to me in the 66 years of my life !! For a 30 yr old yuppie to be able to devastate a senior like this is inhumane ! I live on low social security and have been renting out the smaller Bdrm to increase my income.

Newest and 3rd Landlord of 1.5 years is Ellis-ing me,a 66yr old who's lived in this duplex for 18 years. He recently divulged to me he will be using my unit for his GIRL FRIEND'S studio and is most likely not going to break through wall to make one big home. I believe the law states that a person, not related to landlords immediate family, can not be used to Ellis a tenant from his apartment. So, it's his girlfriend, not his legal wife.Just because they shack up together does not make them husband and wife.

2014 Legislative Updates

Despite the challenging climate for pro-tenant legislation at the state level, Tenants Together members and allies worked hard to push our issues forward. Beginning with our Renters' Day of Action in February, 500 tenants marched on the Capitol to demand Ellis Act reform, restoration of the Renters' Rebate, and passage of SB 391 the Homes & Jobs Act.

After I was evicted through the Ellis Act, my unit was rented out for 4 times what I paid. This is verifiable through a court case in San Francisco. After that, the flat has been rented by the room - with a room costing more than what I paid. My attorney at the time I was evicted told me that I could not sign away my right to move back in if it was rented again, but I am told that I can do nothing about the landlord's failure to offer the flat to me because of the settlement. The City of San Francisco apparently cannot act to enforce the Ellis Act or the Rent Ordinance.

My husband, daughter and myself had a fixed lease dated 1/12/12 to rent a section of the home that was illegaly made into a duplex and ended up with a gas leak that wasnt even fixrd. On 6/28/13 the property sold just shy of being auctioned we never met new owner still to this day. Sept. 2013 i told old landlord i wont pay him to comtact new owner....never did, in Dec 2013 old landlord shows up with a man claiming to be brother of new owner no papers to prove it. They asked or told just us not other tenants to move out by Jan 2, 2014 on Dec 30, 13.
